As a speech, ‘twas delivered with passion,
For idealism, had more than its ration;
But with DACA laws stricter
The right wing was the victor,
In sum what it lacked was compassion.
The State of the Union is tempestuous,
Dis-illusionment hounding the best of us;
Most heroes are blighted,
Our statesmen short-sighed,
And apathy dogs all of the rest of us!
One has to admire the Swiss,
Living life as if nothing’s amiss;
Six centuries at ease,
Making clockworks and cheese;
Trading stark global crises for bliss!
A proper investigation of note,
Bears no whiff of a bias remote;
No partisan proclivity
Should cloud objectivity;
But tell me first, How did you vote?
The first year of his term we survived,
While in chaos his policy thrived;
His tweets are a curse,
Though his statements are worse,
When you think he’s hit bottom, he dives!
The government shutdown card’s played
By both sides as a deal can’t be made;
But I think this affirms,
They would soon come to terms,
If Congress as well wasn’t paid!
The word of the day is “collusion,”
Which means cover-up with confusion;
Though there’s clear testimony,
Trump has called it baloney,
But impeachment could be the conclusion.
